Registration Details: The child’s name, date and time of birth, gender, and parents’ information are entered into the system.
Aadhaar Option: Under the updated process, Aadhaar enrollment can begin from the same point. Since capturing biometrics for newborns is not possible, a provisional Aadhaar number is issued first.
Automatic Linking: Parents must enter their Aadhaar numbers and address on the portal. If all details match correctly, the Birth Certificate and Aadhaar are linked automatically. Because the method is entirely digital, there is no need to wait in long lines.
How to Link Existing Birth Certificates Online?
If your child is older or already has both a Birth Certificate and Aadhaar Card, the linking process remains simple and can be done online. Follow these steps:
Visit the official Civil Registration System website.
Create an account through the ‘General Public Signup’ option.
Log in and go to the ‘Birth Registration’ section.
Choose the ‘Aadhaar Link’ feature.
Enter the Birth Registration Number, Aadhaar Number, and the OTP sent to your mobile.
If the information matches, the documents will be linked instantly.
What to Do if the Information Doesn’t Match?
Sometimes, there may be differences between the details on the Aadhaar Card and the Birth Certificate. If the records do not align, you must correct the discrepancies before linking. Usually, the Birth Certificate is updated first. In certain states, these corrections can also be made at UIDAI service centers.
